thing 23
So, this was all very interesting. Actually, i'll admit i did enjoy doing some of the activities, like the one on flickr, the podcast one, and of course, youtube (that was the easiest!!) some of them were very confusing and i'm not sure i'll use them again, but i'm glad i did this thing, because i learned a lot. so at least i'm not computer illiterate or anything. i liked the image gernerator blogs because those were fun. and i'm glad one of the activities was about rss feeds, because now when i go to websites i know what they are for and how to use them. So, all in all, i actually did enjoy doing this little 23 activities thing, it was educational.
thing 22
This is interesting, I've actually never ever listened to an audio book but i think its cool that they have so many titles, right now i'm doing a search by subject, in the young adult fiction section. i've read a lot of these, so i wouldn't want to download them just to listen to them. oh, one thing i would download would be a language audiobook! so i could learn another language or enhance my spanish speaking abilities! right now i'm downloading a greek language audiobook, because i have a friend that speaks it, and i want to learn. oh its weird. its playing in my media player....it sounds boring. WOW its EIGHT hours long. i cant sit here for eight hours!!!! but its cool! i've already learned some phrases in greek!

thing 21
i actually dont like podcasts. to be honest, i dont always listen to the podcats on the learning2.0 blog site! i'd rather just read the information, at least when its given. i can see how podcasts would be useful for the library though. they can put them on the library webpage and use it as a help thing or when someone wants to find information or something like that. i added one with an rss feed to my bloglines thing. its called "What's New at the Lunar and Planetary Institute Library" i thought it was interesting since 1) it has to do with librarys and 2) lunar and planetary institute.
thing 20
i am so not a novice when it comes to youtube.com. its such a teenage visited website! i go there to watch music videos and my friends sent me links to really funny things. i dont watch it too much for funny things, i most often just go to listen to a song. i leave it up to my friends to send me the humorous videos. actually one of my friends posted a video of his sister singing in a talent show. it was cool. i wouldn't post a video of myself doing anything on the internet though! but yes, i am well acquainted with youtube. lets see what i can find to post.
i thought that was extremely cute!
i dont see how youtube can be used for the library. its more of an entertainment site as far as i know.

thing 19
i found the most awesome site from the list of web 2.0 awards. since i am such a big music person of course i click on the music option, and i go to one of the things that leads me to last.fm. its a really cool website, where you can type in an artist you like and it will give you samples of the songs. its streams them from a radio or something. and then it gives you a list of similar artists. i really like it! you can even built your own library of music and see what other people have. the only thing is i wish they played more of the songs instead of 30 seconds of it!
test document
This is a test document. Oh thats interesting, you can do this --> x2 and i like that you can insert smiley faces
i dont have anything to write in this document! at this moment i am watching the food channel and its doing a biography on emeril. i need to do my geography homework. well i suppose i'll publish this and see how that works.

thing 18
So i'm using the zoho writer thing. its interesting, but im not quite sure what its purpose is for. i realize its used to create documents and publish blogs and things like that, but if i want to create a document i'll just use microsoft word! i know, i'm stuck in my old ways. so i just posted my test document from zoho in this blog thing. its interesting but not something i'd go out of my way to use.

thing 17
well i posted my blog website on the wiki thing. that website is interesting. i looked around at the favorite books one to see what people said it was interesting. i laughed actually when i went to the favorite music link and didnt know a single thing that was posted there! the favorite resteraunts one was interesting too. i like this website because i can get opinions on other things, to see if i want to look more into one of the things mentioned.

thing 16
interesting. its like an encyclopedia for books. and with peoples opinions and everything. i went to book lovers wiki. I like this one because i can look at what people say about books they post and decide if its something i'd want to read. it has each genre of book also. now im looking at SJCPL Subject Guides one, it looks like it could be really helpful. if i need to do research for something.
thing 15
I think its interesting that these things-Learning 2.0 and Web 2.0 have been created in order to help people, patrons and such, to understand basically how to use a library. i read the article, away from the icebergs and it was interesting, especially the part about reliance on user education and trying to get rid of barriers that are preventing patrons from learning. As oppossed to simply teaching them from the start. I agree because it amazes me sometimes how people come into the libray and dont know how to use the online catalog or database or dont even know how to use the dewey decimal system. I think its good these have been made.

thing 14-technorati
this is slightly interesting. I'm not that big on reading other people's blogs if i dont really know them, so this isn't necessarily the type of site i would go to on a regular basis. i typed learning 2.0 in the tags search and it gave me a list of things under blogs and photos and videos. when i typed it in for the blog directory search, it just gave me a list of blogs.
thing 13-del.icio.us
This del.icio.us thing is really confusing. I'm not sure I would be using it for anything in the future, although I'm sure it can be helpful to other people. I do like the idea though, of bookmarking all your sites so you dont have to go around looking on the web for everywhere you've bookmarked, especially if you're on differnt computers. However, i can't see myself using this anytime soon. If i were doing a really big research paper and needed to bookmark tons of websites and stuff, this would come in handy, especially if i dont have my laptop with me everywhere i can just use another computer and access the websites i've bookmarked.

thing 12-rollyo
I dont really see the point of this website. Its kind of confusing and I dont see myself using it to help me search for something, i prefer somthing easy like google. I typed in the word homework in the search bar and it came up with a lot of websites on homework help, which is useful, but like i said, i might as well use google. I think its a slighty confusing website beause it gives you websites and blogs and news results which i dont really need when im searching for something.
thing 11-library thing
Well, this website didn't have that much of an interest for me. I'm not that big on cataloging, and besides the only books i put in my 'library' were ones that i've read already. I'd rather have a list of books, that i haven't read yet, but i dont have a list, since i don't know the names of books i haven't read yet! Anyways the books i put on my library were my favorites, and apparently i like reading michael crichton. I want to read his new book, 'next', it looks good. Anyways, here is the link for my library: http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?view=indian_dv
another thing from image generators!
thing 10 is fun!
thing 9-more rss
I went to topix.net and syndic8.com to look for feeds to subsribe to. I didn't like syndic8.com they didn't have anything that appealed to me, but i liked topix.net. i added two new feeds, one was under entertainment likes movies and stuff, and the other was offbeat, so it was random articles like one of them was about a guy who tried to fake a kidnapping to hide the fact that he crashed his wife's new car!! That's all i want to add though, nothing else seems interesting enough.
thing 8-rss feeds
So i created an account on bloglines. It was easy to do, and it was easy to add feeds from websites. I only added 8 though, because i didn't really find 10 that interested me. I added one for loudoun county weather, one for horoscopes and one on health...and style, those were from the washington post and then i added the one from loudoun county news. Oh, and the unshelved cartoon thing. Im sure the only ones i'll really only read are the cartoon and the horoscopes!

thing 7-technology
the technology i am most pleased with is definately cell phones. or anything music related, like cd player or ipod. I like those two things because 1) cell phones can get you in touch with anyone anywhere! and 2) ipods/cd players are amazing! you can take music with you! and since i am absolutely crazy about music i love that. Of course, there is all that talk about cell phones causing brain damage or tumors, which i guess can happen, although i believe it has yet to be truly proven correct. also, now that i think about it, a lot of people are wanting to ban cell phones and portable music devices because they are a distraction. i highly disagree. they are only a distraction if the person who uses them is not intelligent enough to know that if they cant pay attention to their surroundings while using a cell phone or portable music device, they shouldnt have it in the first place. Whether or not a device is a distraction has to do with who is using it, and how they are using it.
more fun with Flickr! hahaha
:) this made me chuckle. i was looking at the third party tools, and one that caught my eye was the 'retrievr'. Its one where you can search for a picture by drawing a sketch of what you want to look for. and on the right, it brings up photos that apparently look like the thing you sketched. i tested it out, by drawing a tree and a lot of pictures came up! some that to me really didn't seem to look like what i drew at all. Now, i'm drawing a person wearing a blue dress and what comes up is a cat and a bird and really random pictures. I can see how this would get frustrating if you are a really bad sketcher or the right picture doesn't come up. nevertheless, its extremely amusing to see what comes up from what i draw! Now i'm trying to make a trading card thing. It looks cool....It's extremely frustrating because right now i'm at school and the connection here is terrible...i think i made it. its not working! this is slightly frustrating! YAY! I have succeeded in making a trading card!!!! i just uploaded it, its up there! you cant really read it, but that's ok.

Flickr-interesting photo!
interesting. I've never even heard of Flickr before. It seems like a cool way to share photos. When I wanted to search for a photo a ton came up! For example, when I typed in Wolves in the search field, not only pictures of wolves came up, but picturs of people and dogs and other things. I wondered why because people are obvioulsy not wolves, but because of the tags that were under that picture is why it came up. so i uploaded the photo to the left. the reason i chose this one to blog about is because i typed in 'love' in the search engine and this was the first picture on the list!! For some reason it caught my eye, because at first when you look at it, you think the girl covering her mouth is a mirror right? which, apparently it is, just set a few seconds in the future! at least thats what one of the things said on the page. I thought it was amusing that it came up under the tag 'love'.
So i read about what groups are, and apparently if you have a picture you can add to a group set of photos, you just join that group. you have to become a member of it though. Anyways, Flickr seems interesting, but i never would have found out about it before, considering i never put pictures up online for others to view!
First 4 Things
So, I've just completed number 4 on the list of things to do. It was confusing, and I really dont know what I'm suppose to be doing in this blog. It was a little frustrating trying to figure out what I'm suppose to do to set up everything. I've read the 5th thing to do, and I dont really understand how to do it, so i'll come back to that later! Hopefully I can catch up with everyone! I just found out about it, maybe i should start reading ALL my emails at work! Although I'm pretty sure I can finish all of the things by April. Unless I get bogged down with tons of projects and homework from school...which im going to go do now!

7 and a half habits (Test blog)
This is my first blog!
I did that 7 and a half habits tutorial. It was interesting. Habits that I find easiest are accepting responsibility for my learning, using technology to my advantage, and playing!
The other habits were in between but the hardest ones for me are teaching/mentoring others. I don't genearally like to tutor others, even though I know that if I am able to teach someone else, that means I know it very well myself. Yet, I always worry that if I don't teach it perfectly, the other person won't know what to do. Thats why I put teaching at the bottom of my career list!
